Elon Musk has been criticized for missing the targets he has been setting towards production goals — especially since the start of Model 3 production; the criticism has been intense to an extent that some critics thought Tesla would not make it through production hell.
But history has proven before that invisible forces are also in favor of Elon Musk, and he refuses to give up hope and gets rewarded every time.
Model 3 production pressures have yet again forced Elon Musk to sleep at the factory — he is virtually working round-the-clock — and this passion has fueled some good news for the reservation holders in the waiting queue.
A leaked email (full text and source below) that Elon Musk shot around 3 AM has surfaced on Twitter, confirming that Tesla has reached the capability of producing 2,000 Model 3 vehicles a week, and with S and X combined, the production has reached 4,000 units per week.
Elon Musk wrote to Tesla Employees;
It has been extremely difficult to pass the 2000 vehicles per week rate for Model 3, but we are finally there. If things go as planned today, we will comfortably exceed that number over a seven day period!
Moreover, the whole Tesla production system is now on a firm foundation for that output, which means we should be able to exceed a combined Model S, X and 3 production rate of 4000 vehicles per week and climbing rapidly. This is already double the pace of 2017! By the end of this year, I believe we will be producing vehicles at least four times faster than last year.
It took five years to reach the 2000/week production rate for S and X combined, but only nine months to achieve that output with Model 3. Mind-blowing progress!

The above email and another internal Tesla email screen-shot was leaked by @Tweetermeyer in the following tweet yesterday.
The other email is from management to Tesla employees, pushing them for performance enhancement and preparing them to meet the next level of Tesla’s production goals.
Tesla has an extensive training program called ‘Performance Acceleration ’, apparently designed to increase the capacity of employees to produce more work in less time.
This production ramp-up news would certainly get the hopes of Tesla Model 3 reservation holders — we hope the complaints of the EU/UK reservation holders also get addressed early next year if Tesla is able to produce more than 100,000 vehicles this year.
