Another white Tesla Model 3 release candidate was spotted yesterday with a roof rack system installed. While Model 3 will come with less than 100 configurable options yet the roof rack system seems to be there for the ones in need.
Also the list of premium options is not yet released by Tesla as part of their Model 3 ‘anti-selling’ campaign. Elon Musk recently announced that they will be making the simplest Model 3 vehicles at first as they did with the Model S. This means a smaller battery size, no auto-steering adjust and AWD (All Wheel Drive) delayed until next year.
This is what Elon Musk said in a recent tweet about their Model 3 production strategy;
The following white Model 3 with roof rack system was posted to the ‘Spotted’ subreddit yesterday by the user ‘slipsloppoopy‘. If you look at the picture closely there is a box on the roof rack as well to mimic some weight and probably test the car’s balance and performance while having some load on the roof.
This release candidate looks better in terms of panel gaps overall than the previously spotted Model 3 candidates but the gap between the frunk and bumper seems a bit unfinished. However release candidates being tested are in different stages of production and should not be seen as the final product.
The currently available Model S Whispbar Roof Rack System is only configurable with the ‘Panoramic Sun Roof’ and not compatible with the solid metal or glass roof. This roof rack seems to be specially designed for the Model 3 glass roof as the roof rack enabled Model S ‘Panoramic Sun Roof’ is a $28,00 premium option in the Tesla Design Studio.
Update: Tesla later confirmed that Model 3 will have an optional ‘glass roof’ and most probably the default option will be the ‘solid metal roof’ to cut overall costs on the production of the affordable electric car.
We have seen Model 3 prototypes and release candidates with all glass roof since the Tesla Q3 employee party last year. Tesla in their Model 3 anti-selling campaign did not mention the panoramic sun roof as a premium option while comparing the vehicle with Model S in the comparison chart leaked a couple days ago.
Also the Model S Whispbar Roof Rack System costs $549 which is an expensive option for a car people aim to buy for $35,000 or less.
Another white Model 3 was spotted (picture below) in the jungles of Silicon Valley by the instagram user tomtomtomxx. The color gamut of spotted Model 3 release candidates has yet reached the number of five with Blue, Red, White, Silver and Black.

How much is the Model 3 roof rack option going to cost, any idea?
